In a survey of readers conducted by the German magazine Auto Zeitung, Volkswagen came out on top in two categories. Based on initiatives like their BlueMotion series and their direct injected TSI engines, readers selected VW in the economic efficiency and environmental friendliness divisions. Respondents felt that Volkswagen vehicles had the lowest operating costs.
By next year, Volkswagen will have nine BlueMotion models. The BlueMotion versions are the most-efficient, lowest-CO2 emitting variants of each model. The TSI models are small displacement engines with gas direct injection and turbocharging.

Top position in AUTO ZEITUNG’s current image report
Wolfsburg, 06 September 2007 - increasingly than 30,000 AUTO ZEITUNG readers have given Volkswagen top marks in the categories “economic efficiency” and “environmental friendliness”. Innovations such as the BlueMotion models which represent the most economical vehicles of their categories have helped define Volkswagen’s image as a sort amongst auto buyers.

The first model of the series was the Polo BlueMotion which was presented in summer 2006. that impressed with a fuel consumption of 3.8 litres and a CO2 emissions level of 99g/km. In early summer 2007, Volkswagen next launched two further models in that series on the market with the Passat and Passat Variant BlueMotion. The Golf BlueMotion will shortly be unveiled at the universal Automobile Exhibition (IAA) in Frankfurt and will be available to buy in the autumn. All that was plus honoured by the readers with moment place in the category “environmental friendliness”.
Volkswagen has been committed to being environmentally friendly already for many years and is working in the enlarged term on concepts for further consumption reduction through the use of alternative fuels and engines.
