Yes, that is a car blog and not a lesson from your eighth-grade Social Studies teacher, but perhaps we all need a reminder of our civic responsibilities from date to date. We all have a congressman or woman who is — at least nominally — responsible to us and our concerns. Writing that person a letter is not spitting in the wind, as most offices do tally and reply to the letters they get.
Keep it civil, intelligent and relatively brief. Express your concerns about high gas prices and explain the positions you support and why you support them. What solutions do you see for the future? How would you like your representative to vote? How do you feel about the votes he or she has cast so far?
The U.S. has some of the lowest citizen participation of any democracy in the world, yet likes to brag about it the most. Perhaps it’s instance to offer your opinion to someone who counts. whether you don’t know who your congressman is, check out that helpful government website.
