In 2009, Chrysler customers will surf while driving

Chrysler hasn’t precisely made a lot of headway when it comes to greening its fleet. certain it’s got some hybrid concept vehicles on the trade show circuit, and a couple of oxymoronic full-sized hybrids coming out next year — but even among the ‘big 3′ automakers, Chrysler is easily in last place. Now, on top of their $2.99 gas deal, Chrysler’s offering customers yet another reason to waste gas — internet access in their cars.

Obviously, safety experts are already grumbling about what a horrible concept that is, but there’s a pretty clear environmental concern here too.

whether we’re worrying about public melting ice caps as they use their car as a phone booth, how much gas will they waste by using it as an Web cafe? With cities like Madison and Minneapolis cracking down on idling cars — I’ve got to wonder whether Chrysler is really thinking about the future at all? whether you’re going to be double-tasking on your way home, do something safe — like the Exhaustburger.
