New Nissan Catalytic Converter Could Save Money

If you???ve ever had your catalytic converter stolen you probably know that the piece of hardware attached to your exhaust contains precious metals like platinum. Nissan has found a way to reduce the amount of expensive components in the converter in half by using nano-technology. It sounds like Star Trek science to us too, but the company says it will roll out its first new car with the less-expensive parts in the next year.

All automakers have been plagued by rising commodity prices and always look for ways to save, hopefully passing that on to the consumer. Platinum prices rose 9% from April to June.
