Usually we editors have a lot of banter when deciding the winners at our cruise-ins. final night, though, we were unanimous in our choice of Rich Moody’s 1935 Ford pickup as our Coolest Street Rod - and we had plenty of quality rods to choose from final night.

It’s not often we get a real, honest-to-goodness California-style rat rod in attendance at our cruise-ins. And I say rat rod in a loving way - though rough and rusty and bare of the amenities of most street rods, the fabrication work here had me and McNessor poring by it, checking every little detail. While most humans may think “unsafe” and “slapped together”

Check it - he even made the steering wheel out of rebar. I additionally like the way he used two connecting rods for the column drop.

With the bags deflated, the rockers literally scraped the pavement. Completely hand-made bed. Style out the wazoo. No wonder Rich won.
