With the SmartTwo selling like hotcakes, it was only a matter of moment before folks started doing crazy things with it - like wrapping it in outlandish bodywork and seeing how many folks can squeeze into it.

Austrian tuners Koenigseder went to town on a ForTwo Cabrio. Flared fenders widen it and Eibach springs drop it. Those 17-inch wheels are positively dinky in an era when some guys are sporting 28s or even 30s, but they’re the perfect size for a ForTwo. The interior gets a psychedelic makeover, and floral decals highlight your eco-cred, right?

Speaking of the interior, just how many citizens can you squeeze into a ForTwo?

Thirteen. But only whether they’re really good friends.

A baker’s dozen of gymnasts calling themselves “car-tortionists” squeezed into a ForTwo during a recent celebration of Smart’s 10th anniversary at Mercedes-Benz World in Britain. Impressive, but nowhere approach the car-cramming record of 39 - in an original Mini of all things - and well shy of the 18 public who shoehorned themselves into a first-gen Smart in 2002.
