London Tube and National Rail passengers will see shield checkpoints fully intact with x-ray screening machines and sniffer dogs at a “handful” of stations starting that summer. Screening at every London Underground station was ruled out that week considering of fears of passenger revolt.

considering of the high ridership of the Underground and the National Rail network, the government additionally decided to tone down the shield checks to one that is less extensive than those at airports.

“Given the very large passenger flows and thousands of entry points on the UK rail and underground networks, 100% airport-style screening is not feasible using today’s

technology,” says transport minister Tom Harris. Passengers would probably find it impractical and aggravating to take off their shoes every date they take the subway.

The minister plus commented that the public recognized the shield threats and was supportive for additional measures, as expanded as they were not excessive.

The government says they will continue to assess their screening process to build certain there are minimal disruptions to journey times.
