Just a few hours before the Underground banned alcoholic drinks on its trains for what will probably be forever, thousands of Londoners hit the trains to celebrate their final party on the Tube. Prohibiting the consumption of alcohol on the London Underground was in response to unruly behavior. A party of that sort was the final thing the Underground wanted.
Word had gotten around via social networking websites and other webpages that a party would be held on the night of 31 May 2008 on the Circle Line. by a thousand society had joined one of the Facebook group that had posted all the planned details. The Facebook page’s description famous that the party had ” to be done involving some quantities of alcohol to celebrate [the] freedom to drink.”
And certain suitable, the partygoers hit the platforms on Saturday evening.
At the
London Police had to shut six major Tube stations in Central London and ended up arresting 17 folks. British Transport Police commented that “this was an unlucky end to what should have been a fun event.”
