Less than two hours ago, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, which runs New York’s bus and subway system, approved a fare increase after a series of zealous debates. The individual journey fares will remain at $2, but the price of a weekly and monthly passes will raise to $24 and $81 respectively. Currently, riders get a bonus of 20% when adding by $10 of credit. that will be reduced down to 15% in March 2008. faraway Island Railroad and Metro-North will plus see an increase in ticket prices. I wouldn’t be surprised to see hundreds of commuters filling up their MetroCards with as much credit as possible in order to get the 20% bonus before the fare hike takes place later next year (in various cities where a fare increase
