V2Green Partners with Texas Utility for Smarter Charging Technology

In the ideal world, our plug-in vehicles will recharge overnight when demands on the electric grid are low. In the real world, a sizable percentage of electric cars will be sucking down potential in the middle of hot summer days when air conditioners are pushing the electric gird to capacity.

So V2Green is developing a two-way communication technology within vehicles and ability suppliers, which promises to better manage resources and reduce emissions in the bargain. Yesterday, the company announced a

partnership with Austin Energy to field two plug-in enabled Priuses as experiment mules for the technology. Based on cellular networks, the communication system would enable the supplier to reduce the rate of recharge during peak hours. Ultimately, it might save car owners money on recharging their vehicles.
